Mill Village and Charleston

Mill Village is an historic mill town serving the early Nova Scotia logging industry. Lumber was milled and logs were floated down the Medway River from Charleston through Mill Village to the harbour in Port Medway from where they where shipped to Europe and the Carribean in the 18th and 19th centuries. The village is enjoying a period of renewal as a pretty and private centre for people who want to live away from the hurly burly of cities.

Many of the beautifully kept houses date back to the mid-1800's.  In the last few years an old mill building has been reborn as the local general store, cafe and gift shop.  It has been exquisitely restored and it popular with residents and visitors alike.
